How to use computer power supply in your project ?

We can use computer power supply as a voltage source and make benefit from it in our projects.
There are several wires in different colors in power supply and each color indicate value and by knowing the value colors, we can use voltage we need.

To know the significance of colors of the wires :




The voltage that power supply produce :

Yellow = +12 Volt
Red = +5 Volt
Orange = +3,3 Volt
White = -5 Volt
Black = ground
Green = power on
Grey = Good power line ( which is responsible for the cessation of power supply and separation of power if short circuit occurred ).
Violet = +5 Volt ( standby ).
Brown = +3,3 Volt ( remote sensing )

How to operate without being connected to Mother Board ?
Connect the green wire ( power on ) with any black wire ( ground ) then the power supply will work.
